The Swiss Airbus A340 – A Tribute
Growing up the Swiss A340's have always been part of Zürich Aiport for me. I remember my first times on the
viewing deck, watching the heavy runway 16 departures. There would be at least a few A340's departing in the
early afternoon. These were my favorite aircraft to watch next to the Singapore A380, of course. With A350's
joining the fleet in 2025 the days of the A340 are officially over and with Swiss moving more and more of their
A340's to Edelweiss we are now in 2023 left with only 4 of them. Daytime departures are getting rarer and
the A340's have become a bit trickier to photograph.
I've therefore made a promise to myself to get as many good A340 shots as I can before their retirement. This
post should serve as a collection of my A340 photographs, especially for after their retirement.
